Ireland's Islands

Not only is this book based on my favourite subject, but I was invited to collaborate on it with a photographer whose early books inspired my own journey into image making back when I was starting out. Ireland's Islands is a 192 page selection of our offshore worlds, taking in the landscapes, wildlife, heritage and history of some of Europe's westernmost outposts. I really enjoyed the trips I made to put this book together. Hopefully the result will be of interest to anybody else with a grá for these special places.

Exploring Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way

A joint publication between David Flanagan and myself, first published by Three Rock Books in April 2016 and now in its third edition since December 2024. This guidebook was the first and is still the most comprehensive travel guide dedicated to the Wild Atlantic Way. It is essential reading for anyone planning to visit the Atlantic coast of Ireland. Whether looking for ideas for weekend adventures or visiting from abroad you will find everything you need within this guide. This book’s focus is on the outdoors – on getting out into the fresh air, the wind, the sun and the rain – and experiencing the incredible natural beauty found everywhere along the coast. It is full of spectacular photos, helpful maps and detailed information on the west coast’s best sights, from the most famous landmarks to the hidden gems on this awe inspiring route. The latest edition has updated maps, info and photos, as well as a double page spread at the end of each chapter with a selection of accommodation and food & drink options for that area, and includes a chapter on The Shannon Estuary Way, a more recent and natural continuation of the original Wild Atlantic Way route.

Exploring Ireland

Following on from the great success of Exploring Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way I was invited back by David Flanagan to help produce a similar kind of book, this time for the entire island of Ireland. There is a vast amount of information in this book, which, like our previous collaboration, is meant not only to help guide people with ideas of where to go and what to do, but to inspire them to want to go and do in the first place through more than 600 carefully selected images. No matter where you live in Ireland there's sure to be something new to discover within these covers. There's a comprehensive list of easily accessible walking trails, beaches and quiet coves, lakes, woodlands, interesting heritage sites, and some select food and accommodation options.
